When I get stressed, especially in the winter, 2 things happen: First, my body caves and those pesky cold symptoms start to creep up, and secondly, I get annoying breakouts. Not fun. Luckily, I have found a remedy to help with both. I’ve used this recipe to help nip cold symptoms in the butt, and especially great to soothe an achy throat. I have also found that topically it works like magic treating breakouts! Follow the recipe below and use as a spot treatment at night. Done and done!
Manuka Honey Cold and Spot Treatment
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1 inch grated fresh ginger (optional)
1 Tablespoon Manuka Honey
1 Tablespoon Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tablespoons water
*Optional: Add a clove of garlic chopped up finely. Beware though, this can be quite harsh on the stomach. I recommend juicing this instead and then adding to the formula.
horseradish to taste (optional)
Mix everything together and take by the teaspoon at the onset of symptoms (if you can tolerate the taste), OR add about 2-3 teaspoons of this mixture to 8 oz warm water with juice of 1 lemon. Don’t chug, sip on this! It’s soothing on the throat and extremely comforting when feeling run down and achy. Thanks to the antimicrobial properties of the Manuka honey and astringent properties in the apple cider vinegar, this paste is also wonderful as a spot treatment for breakouts and acne! Apply at night and watch them disappear by morning!
