Looking for a new go to smoothie that’s refreshing, yet still creamy, high in antioxidants and anti- inflammatory? This here is one of my new favorites, simple to make, satisfying and skin supportive!
ALWAYS Opt for Organic Blueberries
Blueberries are the heart of this smoothie, specifically wild blueberries, which are smaller in size but contain higher amounts of antioxidants. They are great to have all year around because of their ability to freeze well, preserving their delicate antioxidant nutrients which are found in colorful pigments that give many foods their wonderful shades of blue, purple, and red. Studies show after freezing blueberries at temperatures of 0°F (-17°C) or below for 3-6 months, has no impact on lowering overall antioxidant concentration. This means that whether you have access to local berries or not, and whether you pick them fresh or frozen at the grocery store, you’re still getting just as much nutrition. Although with the warmer months approaching, we will have them in plentiful amounts seasonally and depending where you live, locally as well. Do make sure and get all berries organic, as these are some of the highest sprayed fruits according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG). Organic berries, have been shown to have significantly higher concentrations of total phenol antioxidants and total anthocyanin antioxidants than conventionally grown blueberries.
Berries in general are also a low sugar fruit, meaning they won’t impact blood sugar as much as sweeter fruits can do. This is good to keep in mind if you’re on a low inflammatory diet, as well as struggling with skin conditions, since this is usually a result of internal inflammation showing through on the surface of the skin. If you want to add to the health and skin benefits to this or any smoothie, gelatin is always a great addition for a protein source with easy to digest amino acids, and anti aging properties by providing, Get Gelatin Here

Ginger has endless benefits, check them out here! The more the better with this is my mantra.
Lemon is extremely cleansing and clarifying for the skin and body. In addition it also provides much needed minerals and electrolytes keeping you hydrated and your skin looking soft and glowing.
Green Powder is a great way to add even more concentrated source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals to any smoothie without having to worrying about oxalates; compounds which bind with calcium in the body, and may form stones, which can deposit in your kidneys, joints, or even other areas of the body.
If you want to make this into a filling well rounded meal, I suggest adding Paleo Meal, my favorite multi vitamin/ mineral and liver supporting high quality protein powder. I like the non dairy version made from pea protein.
